Executive Secretary of the Regional Cooperative Program for the Technological Development and Modernization of Coffee Growing (PROMECAFE)
René León-Gómez Rodas, currently serves as Executive Secretary of the Regional Cooperative Program for the Technological Development and Modernization of Coffee Growing (PROMECAFE), based in Guatemala. The program promotes cooperation and technical exchange among nine coffee-producing countries in Mesoamerica and the Caribbean; It also has the support and backing of recognized institutions, such as: IICA, CATIE and WCR, who participate as technical partners of PROMECAFE.
René is an Agricultural Engineer, graduated from the Pan-American Agricultural School (ZAMORANO), with a Master’s degree in Business Management with a specialty in Finance from the Central American Technological University (UNITEC). With more than fifteen years of experience in the management of coffee institutions, both at the regional level and in his country of Honduras; In addition, he takes advantage of his experience as a small coffee producer.
The focus of his work has been to promote the strengthening and development of coffee farming with emphasis on meeting the needs and main challenges that affect the profitability and sustainability of small producers, combining efforts to promote innovation through cooperative, participatory work and promoting the establishment of strategic alliances in the region.
