What is a Low-Emissions Coffee?
It is a distinction granted to coffee companies and producers that implement sustainable practices in their production processes, with the goal of reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, promoting sustainability in agricultural production, and contributing to their decarbonization objectives.
Although it began as a tool to introduce roasted coffee to the national market, by 2025, through the Costa Rica Coffee Traceability and Sustainability Declaration tool (currently undergoing a digital upgrade), it will also be applied to collect and transparently communicate strategic information throughout the entire Costa Rican coffee value chain. The aim is to achieve greater sustainability for the entire sector.
In every cup of Costa Rican coffee, you can feel the warmth of a country with extraordinary natural wealth and a deep commitment to the environment—awakening awareness of a global movement that seeks to make the world a better place. It’s a smart choice that reflects discipline and dedication to excellence while contributing to this cause. You can be certain that you are receiving a 100% traceable, low-emission product. With every sip, you leave a positive footprint for future generations who will follow in your steps.
