David Griswold built one of North America’s most recognized specialty coffee supply chains as the founder of Sustainable Harvest Coffee, an award-winning B Corporation with operations on the ground in Latin America and Africa. He coined the term “Relationship Coffee” to describe his direct trade business model in the 1990s, built on transparency and trust.
After selling his company in 2023, he shifted his focus to helping farmers improve soils and income through emerging technologies in engineered biochar, making coffee more resilient in the face of climate change.
He is Partnership Manager/Americas at Carbon Standards, a Swiss carbon credit registry pioneering biochar certification. He works with growers, roasters, project developers, and producer associations to build coffee supply chain climate asset programs.
